Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi

Tariqas in Dagestan - by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi

How many Tariqas are there in Daghestan and are all of them true?
By Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi ad-Daghestani

We have talked about it before that there are different kinds of Tariqas and that every kind of them have definite tasks (Wirds). It was also mentioned that every Tariqa has its Imam, like the four Mazhabs, and that not everyone has the right to teach Tariqa.

On kashf and knowledge - Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi ad-Daghestani

Speech by Murshid Kamil, honorable Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi in the Chirkey Village Jum`ah Mosque, 2004

Prophet Musa (pbuh) is spiritually much higher than prophet Khidr (pbuh). He was given a great mission. He is one of the Ulul Azmi. Khidr (pbuh) had a lower level. What is then the meaning and the use of Qur’anic ayahs about the meeting of Musa and Khidr (pbuh)? Had this story been told by an alim, it could have been called doubtful, unproven. Even if it had been in the hadith of the Prophet(pbuh), skeptics might argue that it is made up, unreliable or weak. But in our case the story of Musa and Khidr (pbuh) is told by the Almighty Allah in the Holy Qur’an. Therefore its authenticity is beyond doubt. This story points to the existence of hidden knowledge (`ilm batin), which is the basis of Tariqa.

Shaykh Said Afandi's interview for a satellite TV channel broadcasting to Arab states.

In September, 2007 guests from Moscow visited Shaykh Said Afandi (may Allah bless his soul). They asked the shaykh to give an interview for a film about Dagestani Muslims. The film was originally prepared in Arabic language for transmission by a satellite channel to Arab states; the aim of this project is to tell Muslims of the world about Islam in Russia. The shaykh agreed to give an interview, and although the questions and answers were oriented more to the Arabs, we think that it will also be interesting for our readers.

On transliterated Quran, khatm and family matters - by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi

Address by honorable Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi ad-Daghestani at the majlis of Ulama in Chirkey village Jum`ah mosque, Dagestan, 04 Nov 2006

Dear brothers in faith, not so long ago we went to India on ziyarat. Our guide there was a driver from Bangladesh. He spoke Russian; apparently, he had studied in Moscow. Besides, he was quite a wealthy man, because, in general, people live in poverty there.

Importance of following knowledge

Speech delivered by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi at a graduation ceremony and opening of a new campus building at the Nur al-Irshad Islamic Institute, 2003.

Everything is up to a person

Speech by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi on the Ulama Majlis in Chirkey on January, 1, 2005.

Dear brothers in faith! Praise be to Allah, who granted us these ulama, all these talented young men! We simply are not good enough at shukru, i.e. being thankful to Allah. And it is almost impossible to express the gratitude for everything we have heard from our ulama today. The previous Majlis was good, too. They say, if there is an advice-asker, there is always an advice-giver. Allah gave us these people who can teach us something useful. May He grant us the ability to learn it!

Fear of Allah is the highest wisdom

Speech delivered by Shaykh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi at graduation ceremony of Nur al-Irshad Islamic institute, 30 June 2006.

They say, “Whoever makes his best surely achieves success”. We can witness today how true those words are. How old is Aslauddin? He is 53! We should probably take his photo and write articles for As-Salam and Nur al-Islam papers. His example vividly proves that Allah gives anything to those who do their best! At the age of 53 he is a student! Late Patal Hajji once told me a similar story. When studying in Karakhi, he got to know an `alim who started studying `ilm at 50. He became a good `alim! Never give up studying because of age. If you can learn a letter, do it. We have got all the possibilities nowadays. May Allah help us!

Tests and trials from Allah

Sermon delivered by Shaykh Said Afandi in Chirkey village mosque after Tarawih prayer on 27 Ramadan 2005.

Muhyiddin al-Arabi, may Allah bless his soul, says that there was a night he was spending sleepless in the Qurtuba mosque when all the Prophets unexpectedly arrived there. All of them starting with Adam (PBUH) had come. “This surprised me and I wondered what gathering there was going on”, says Ibn al-Arabi. And he asked one of them, what was the reason of their gathering, what was their goal. And the answer was: “There was a very pious person. His name was Mansur al-Hallajj. And we have gathered here today to intercede for him, to ask the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to forgive him.
