According to the survey, 24% of respondents see the US as the greatest threat, and in a considerable distance behind it, 8% believe Pakistan is the great threat to world peace.


Study shows US, Europe topped list of arms producers in 2012

New research shows that the United States, Canada and some European countries topped the list of arms producers in 2012.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said in a report released on Friday that of the top 100 arms manufacturers, 42 are based in the United States, one in Canada, and 30 in Western Europe.


U.S. abortion rate hits lowest level since 1973: study

The abortion rate in the United States dipped to its lowest since 1973, coinciding with a steep decline in overall pregnancy and birth rates, a study from a nonprofit sexual health organization showed on Sunday.

The rate declined to 16.9 abortions per 1,000 women between the ages of 15 and 44 in 2011, the latest year studied, which was well below the 1981 peak of 29.3 per 1,000 and the lowest since 1973 when the rate was 16.3 per 1,000, the study from Guttmacher Institute showed.


UAE considers importing North American gas

The United Arab Emirates, a Gulf OPEC oil producer, said it was looking at the possibility of importing natural gas from North America, in what would be one of the most striking developments since the start of the U.S. shale boom.

The United States and Canada are producing record amounts of gas from shale rock formations, pulling down North American prices to levels that have attracted the interest of foreign buyers.
