Wealth of UK’s 10 richest Arabs soars to $26bn

The wealth of the 10 richest Arabs in the UK has soared by 50 percent in the last year, according to an annual ranking by the Sunday Times.

The Saudi Arabian business mogul Mohammed Bin Issa al-Jaber, who made his fortune in the hotels, restaurants and food industries, was ranked the richest Arab living in the UK, with a fortune of about $10.36bn, the newspaper said.

 

Most Arabs get news from TV

An estimated 78 percent of Arabs still get their news from television, with only 6 percent searching for it on new media platforms, according to Arab Index, an annual report issued by the Arab Center for Research and Studies.

 

Arabs, Turkey see no role for Assad in future Syria

Five Arab countries and Turkey have reiterated that President Bashar al-Assad should have no role in the future of Syria, as Russia and the United States proposed a peace conference.

The foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, as well as that of Turkey - all supporters of the Syrian opposition - expressed their stand at a meeting late Monday in Abu Dhabi, WAM Emirati news agency said.

 

Top 10 richest Arabs in UK share $17.5bn fortune

The combined wealth of the ten richest Arabs in the UK now exceeds $17.5 billion, according to an annual ranking by the Sunday Times.

The Saudi Arabian business mogul Mohammed Bin Issa al-Jaber, who made his fortune in the hotels, restaurants and food industries, was ranked 15th as a new entrant on the newspaper’s annual Rich List.

In the Middle Ages Arab geographers were the most versed in the knowledge of paths, roads and routes.
The interest to the observations of natural phenomena was an intrinsic characteristic of Arabs from the very beginning. They determined routes on land and at sea with the help of stars. Some pieces of knowledge in astronomy helped them to determine the weather, time of sowing, etc. This knowledge had been passing on from one generation to another.
