Even now daughters are considered an unwanted burden in some societies and instead of rejoicing, an atmosphere of grief and disappointment is produced in the family at their birth.
This is the position, today, but in the pre-Islamic times the daughters were positively considered a shame and disgrace among the Arabs, so much so that even the right to live was denied to them. Many a hard-hearted parent used to strangle his daughter to death, with his own hands, when she was born, or bury her alive.

Allah the Exalted, has made the name of His Messenger clear in the Noble Qur’an. In Surah al-Fath, verse 29 Allah said:
قالاللهتعالى(مُّحَمَّدٌرَّسُولُاللهِوَالَّذِينَمَعَهُأَشِدَّاءعَلَىالْكُفَّارِرُحَمَاءبَيْنَهُمْ)
It means: “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those with him
are severe against the blasphemers, and merciful among each
other.”

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) preached to the people to trust in Allah. His whole life was a sublime example of the precept. In the loneliness of Makkah, in the midst of persecution and danger, in adversity and tribulations, and in the thick of enemies in the battles of Uhud and Hunayn, complete faith and trust in Allah appears as the dominant feature in his life.

Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu’anhu) narrated that the Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: "The first thing a person will be held accountable for on the Day of Judgment is his Solat. If they are complete, it will be written for him that they are complete, but if there is a deficiency in them, Allah would say: "See if My Slave has any supererogatory prayers." Allah would also say: "Make up the deficiency in My Slave's obligatory prayers from the supererogatory prayers;" and then other actions will be accounted for accordingly." This is recorded by An-Nasa’ie and others.
